Computing

Computing statement of intent:

At St Oswalds, we believe that computing is a vital part of the curriculum that provides children the life skills they need to live within the 21st century. We aim to support the children in developing their digital competence so they can develop the much needed skills to support them in both school and the work place. We aim to deliver high quality computing lessons that will support the children in learning how to use computing programmes, the internet, how to use the technology we have available and how to use this technology safely. We hope that through this teaching, the children will develop the children’s skills and knowledge through five main strands:

· Communication

· Digital Literacy

· Programming

· Data

· Multimedia

The objectives and skills covered in each of these strands support the children in developing their own sense of digital confidence, resilience and creativity. We hope when the children reach the end of their journey with us in Key Stage 2, they will be confident and responsible when using technology
