Upcoming Events
Hello everyone – a quick note from the PTA to let you know what we have planned over the coming Spring Term.
1. Bag 2 School (20th March 2020) The BIG Spring Clean!
Our last event was a huge success and we have been asked by a number of parents to arrange another collection in the Spring. We have therefore organised a collection to take place on the 20th March 2020. The same rules apply as before, letters will be sent home in bags to remind you of what is accepted.
Drop off with take place in the playground next to the storage shed. There will be a Raffle prize available as before, and you will receive a Raffle Ticket for every bag donated. The more you donate the better your chances of winning!
2. Hot Chocolate & Easter Treats (30th March – 3rd April 2020)
Following the success of the Christmas after school Hot Chocolate sales we will be selling Easter Treats & Hot Drinks after school all week starting on the 30th March 2020.
We have been extremely lucky at previous events to be supported by our wonderful local cake making mums, however for this event we would like to propose that the children get involved. We are therefore proposing a “Great Easter Bake Off” and would love it if the children could bake at home and bring in their contributions to sell during the event. Every child who brings in a donation of cakes will receive an Easter Treat for their efforts.
We will be asking for donations to be brought into school on either the 30th March or the 1st April to ensure we have fresh stock to sell for the whole week.
During this event we will also be selling Raffle Tickets for the chance to win this amazing Giant Easter Egg Tower.
3. Mr Nick's Table-Top Sale (Coming Soon)
Mr Nick has kindly donated a number of items that we will be selling to raise funds for the School Sensory Room. These are all brand new items – we will be setting up a Facebook marketplace advert offering these items for sale at bargain prices - please keep your eye on the PTA Facebook Group page for further information.
Finally we would like to thank everyone for their support so far, we have be inundated with offers of help from parents. Our Valentines Disco was so well staffed that it was our best yet! We managed to raise a massive £415.
Our current profit total since starting out in October stands at £1,881.07
So far we have been able to support the school in the purchase of the following items:
• Christmas Selection Boxes at Christmas for every child
• Snowballs for the Indoor Snowball Fight
• New Tea & Coffee Urns
• Roald Dahl Books for World Book Day
• Easter Eggs for every child
• £100 donation to the Y6 Leavers Party
We look forward to being able to continue to fund items that the school need but more importantly we can’t wait to host more fun events for the children to enjoy!

Dear Parent / Guardian
We are pleased to announce that the St Oswalds PTA has organised a clothes & shoe collection with Bag2School in order to raise funds for the school.
Bag2School is the UK’s leading textile recycler and fundraiser working with schools and since its inception in 2001 it has now paid out over £36 million.
As well as raising funds for the school it also helps the environment by helping to divert unwanted textiles away from landfill. A recent DEFRA report has shown that textile collection schemes are helping to reduce the volume of textiles discarded as municipal solid waste. However it is a fact that as a nation we still send 350,000 tonnes of textiles to landfill every year.
By getting involved in our Bag2School collection, you have an opportunity to sort through your cupboards and wardrobes and donate unwanted textiles in the bag provided – this can include adults’ and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, handbags and soft toys, (please refer to http://uk.bag2school.com/ for full details). In addition to raising much needed funds it will also raise awareness amongst the children of the benefits of recycling and reuse.
There is also the added the incentive of winning a fabulous raffle prize! The PTA will give a raffle ticket for every bag donated, so the more bags you donate the better chance you have of winning. If you fill the donation bag and still have more then you can use any other bag to donate your items and don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out as well!
Bag2School will be collecting from St Oswalds Academy on 23rd March 2019. Please bring your bag (or bags!) to school (Storage Shed in main Playground) on the 20th March 2019 either prior to or after school where we will be on hand to assist. Please note that we cannot accept donations prior to this date due to storage limitations.
